Individual therapy

For adults who want a steady hour a week to think out loud with someone who listens.

  • Fifty minutes, once a week to start

We can change the rhythm as we go.

  • Your information is kept private

I keep your records private and share them only as the law allows.

How it works, in six points

  • Who it helps

Adults, eighteen and older, who want to understand what repeats in their work, their relationships and their own head.

  • What sessions look like

We sit and talk. I listen, ask questions and sometimes say what I notice. There is no worksheet and no script.

  • The method

Psychodynamic therapy: a talking therapy that pays attention to patterns, including the ones that show up between you and me.

  • What this is not

It is not meditation instruction, a spiritual practice or a medical service. I do not prescribe, and I do not offer mindfulness as treatment.

  • Length and frequency

Your clinician sets the pace with you. I do not promise a number of sessions, and you can pause or stop whenever you decide.

  • You pay for each session yourself, and your fee is given in writing before we start. Insurance, receipts and the written estimate are on the page about how fees work.

Three questions about this service

What happens in the first session?

It lasts 50 minutes. I explain how I work, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits of therapy, and I listen. At the end we each decide whether to continue.

How often, and for how long?

Most people come weekly at first. I do not promise a number of sessions: we talk about the pace as we go, and you can change it.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: if someone is at serious risk of harming themselves or another person, or if abuse of a child or an older adult is suspected, I may have to tell others. I explain this in writing before we start.
