Services

Life transitions

For adults in a change of work, home or direction who want company in the thinking.

  • A place to think it through

No decision is asked of you in the first session.

  • Short or long, as you decide

Some people come for a season, others for longer.

How it works, in six points

  • Who it helps

Adults who are moving, changing work, ending or beginning something, or living with a loss, and want to think it through out loud.

  • What sessions look like

We talk about where you are, what you are leaving and what you are not sure about. I ask questions and say what I notice.

  • The method

Psychodynamic therapy: a talking therapy that looks at the patterns you bring into a change, and at what the change is stirring up.

  • What this is not

It is not career coaching, a plan or a promise of how it will turn out. I do not offer mindfulness as a treatment, and I do not give spiritual direction.

  • Length and frequency

Your clinician sets the pace with you. I do not promise a number of sessions, and you can stop when the change feels settled.

  • You pay for each session yourself, and your fee is given in writing before we start. Insurance, receipts and the written estimate are on the page about how fees work.

Three questions about this service

How often, and for how long?

Most people come weekly at first. I do not promise a number of sessions: we talk about the pace as we go, and you can change it.

How much does it cost, and how do fees work?

Your fee is given to you in writing before we start, and you pay at the end of each session. The page on how fees work walks through insurance, receipts and the estimate.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: if someone is at serious risk of harming themselves or another person, or if abuse of a child or an older adult is suspected, I may have to tell others. I explain this in writing before we start.
